Eyelash extensions make you look glamorous everyday and can help you get ready faster in the mornings, because you don't need to add layers of mascara or curl your lashes. In fact, the less you do daily to your Minkys, the better. How do eyelash extensions work? By adding extensions to each individual eyelash, you get a fuller, longer and more luscious look. Right now you can save over $100 on your first full lashing and first fill. You're going to get both, normally, $265, for just $149. Wow!!!

Download your Makeover Monday deal certificate and bring it in to your appointment. The only catch to this awesome deal is to make your appointment by September 16th. We want you to try this service as soon as possible and on the 15th, a brand new deal will be announced.

If this doesn't fit into your budget right now, that's okay, we're also giving away a full set of lashes in our Get Lashed Lash Lottery! Enter below by doing what you already do: liking us all over social media! We love all our clients and want them to look as fantastic as possible at all times. We'll cross our fingers for you.

How to Make More Time in Your Day

Let's face it, even the girls at Melange sometimes feel a little lazy in the morning. Getting up and getting ourselves pretty to face the world and pamper and beautify our lovely clients isn't always on the top of our list as we rush out the door. If you sympathize, then we have several ways for you to cut time off your beauty routine and have more time for yourself.

Ignore Your Eyes
We love our eyes and enjoy playing up this feature, but it takes quite a bit of extra time in the morning to mascara and line and shade. Our solution: Minky eyelash extensions. Look like you're wearing false lashes right out of bed. They eliminate the need for mascara (and, in fact, have a longer life if you don't use any) and make you feel movie star gorgeous.

Paint Your Nails Less
Manis and pedis are a time suck. Even if you do a stellar job, you can be typing away at your job or doing the dishes and notice that after only a few days they are chipping something fierce. Boo! It's the worst, right? Either you have to go bare or have to waste the time to redo them. Somehow, your toes probably last longer, until you need them to and find yourself at the pool with half of them flaked off. Megan is our resident Shellac guru. These manis and pedis last up to two weeks without chipping or fading, meaning you have all those extra hours to spend doing other things you love to do.

Stop Shampooing
Okay, not altogether, but some. Washing your hair everyday does not help it stay healthy and dries out your scalp. Stretch your shampoos to every other or every three days instead (eliminating the need to spend hours blowdrying, curling, straightening and such) and use a dry shampoo  in between washes if you're findng your hair a bit oily. We sell different brands in the salon, but you can also make your own really easily.

Do you have a great shortcut you'd like to share?

Coconut Oil Rocks!

It's true. We love coconut oil. It's fantastic. We use it to cook with. We use it as a moisturizer. We use it as natural lip balm. not only does it work, but it smells delicious and we already have it in our pantries. Got dry scalp? Instead of looking for a new shampoo that might contain sulfates that will damage your color, reach for the coconut oil. Melt a bit by leaving it on your counter for an hour or so and then work it into your scalp before bedtime. It really works! It's great for hard water that makes your skin itchy or when the summer or winter have sapped the moisture and causes your skin to get all dry and flaky. Think that's cool? Here are some other ways coconut oil rocks:

Your Summer Beauty Bag

Summer's here and the sun is officially out and shining. This means you probably want to change up your beauty routine to keep your skin looking dewy (not sweaty) and fresh. One place you may need to do this is for your vacation. Everyone's talking about packing up and heading on a getaway. Pare down on your beauty products and get everything you need in your carry-on bag and then you won't have to worry about lost luggage.

3-1-1 bags aren't that big, especially when you're flying during the summer and have to squeeze sunscreen in there, too. While you can buy it once you get there, many resorts, theme parks and grocery stores have outrageous prices on these items. I have ways you can find room in your travel bag for sunscreen and still look great in all your pictures.

Tinted Moisturizer - You may be used to taking your foundation wherever you go, but a tinted moisturizer can do double-duty as a foundation and a moisturizer. Most have built-in SPF, so you don't have to bring a second sunscreen specifically for your face.

Powder Foundation - Avoid taking two products and opt for just one with a powder foundation. Not only does it save space, but a good one, like Philosophy Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas, will be long-lasting and give you a flawless finish over your moisturizer. This can be paired with tinted moisturizer to give you more coverage.

Tinted Lip Gloss - Get a fresh summery look by bringing along a tinted lip gloss that also moisturizes. Leave your heavy lipstick at home and you also won't have to tote around a tube of lip balm. SmashboxO-Gloss brings out the natural hue of your lips, plus it gives you a slight shine and locks in moisture.

Trial Sizes - Those fun trial sizes that you get with makeup purchases are your best friend on vacation. Save those tiny tubes of mascara, lip glosses, and eye shadows, and pack them in your travel bag.

Shampoo bars - Shampoo and conditioner can take up a lot of room and also contribute the most to spillage in your bag. There's nothing worse than getting to your destination and having to wash off everything in your 3-1-1 bag because your shampoo or conditioner exploded. Shampoo bars don't ever have to go in your liquids bag, they never spill and are super easy to use. They work just like a bar of soap and have all the benefits of a great shampoo. You can even get solid conditioners which will leave your hair silky and manageable.

If you have favorite products that don't come in smaller sizes, decant into empty vials, bottles or jars, so you can keep them in your travel bag. You'll feel at home and look your best, too!

Spectacular Nails for the Fourth

The Fourth of July is right around the corner. Celebrate your independence while also looking fab all the way down to your nails. While you could just paint your nails red, white and blue and be done with it, pump it up a notch so there's no doubt you love the U S of A with these nail art inspirations:

Not quite that good with a steady hand? Try this simple accent nail mani, or use the technique on all your nails instead.

Nautical and festive? What's more I Love America than that? Not much, in our opinion. Not only is this super cute on the fingers, it's also a great way to do your toes to dress up your favorite flip flops.

Stars and stripes go right along with everything the Fourth is about. Add them all to your nails!

Recreate your favorite fireworks shooting into the air with this red, white and OH art with the added fun of sparkles

Bam! Shiny, shimmery and patriotic. Not only does this mani scream Fourth of July, it also doubles as a Wonder Woman costume addition.

Make Uncle Sam proud with this nail art to rival the art in the skies after your backyard BBQ.

Do you have a perfect mani for the fourth or have you found the perfect art you want to try instead?

Find Dry Shampoo in Your Pantry

So, you love the idea of dry shampoo. Obviously, because it works and gives you limp locks a little oomph to make it through another day or evening without having to wash your hair and dry out your scalp unnecessarily. If you love an all-natural approach to your beauty and hair products then why not mix up a batch of your own dry shampoo at home? Brunettes can make a blend that isn't white and actually blends in with their hair color. The ingredients for your head's new BFF are as close as your pantry. In fact, you really only need one or two items.

If you're a blonde, reach for the cornstarch. A few drops of your favorite essential oil - say, lemon or lavender - added to 1/4 cup can give it a lovely smell, too.

If you're a brunette, add one tablespoon of cocoa powder to 1/4 cup of cornstarch. Shake it up, taking care to not mix with your hands and ruin it with the oils on your hands. This will give it a darker tint that won't leave you looking like you got caught in a baking fight. You can also add essential oils to this if you want a scent other than the faint chocolate of the cocoa powder.

Get a wide makeup brush to use specifically with your dry shampoo and tap it over your roots to keep your hair grease-free and fresh looking.

Have you tried making your own dry shampoo before? If so how did it turn out?

Invest in Precious Metals

Metallics are all over the place right now, from iridescent and metallic pants, tops and footwear, but did you know that you can extend those amazing colors to your hair? While you probably don't want to go head-to-toe metallic, your hair can be the perfect compliment to your metal accessories, like your favorite gladiator sandals. Here are some ways to do metallic hair, that can make you look amazing.

Create a Gorgeous Braided Wedding Updo

Wedding season is upon us, which means you might be headed to a wedding, in a wedding or getting married yourself. You'll want to create a lasting and memorable hairdo for the big day, right? A great updo goes perfectly with almost any dress style, keeps your neck cool in the warm weather and shows off any neck candy you want everyone to admire. This year, braids are big and can totally be incorporated into many updos to help make them look a little more constructed and interesting. Here are some we love:

photo credit - You can't go wrong with a pretty hair accessory
photo credit - the braid gives you an easy guide for veil placement
photo credit - we adore this lose braid
photo credit - a side-swept updo is always beautiful
photo credit - simple = perfect, especially for a beach wedding
photo credit - Something so complex works best with no veil and minimal jewelry

How many weddings have you been invited to this summer?

How to Create No-Heat Curls

Curls can be great for creating volume and depth and giving your hair a new look. Though a curling iron car easily achieve curls, some of us are just not that good at using them, especially on the back of the head, or don't want to subject our hair to heat if we don't have to. Well, with a little planning, you can definitely create beautiful no-heat curls. Here are just some of the ways hair-lovers on the internet have figured out how to get luscious curls without hair appliances. (click through for step-by-step instructions):

Every woman likes to be pampered every once in a while and a gift certificate to the salon can totally fit the bill.  It can be used on any of our services or products. And remember, we offer facials in our tranquil spa room, do eyelash extensions and this summer we'll be doing Shellac pedicures on the lanai again.

Boy Band Hair is In

Music has been overrun with some very handsome men this year, including boy bands like One Direction and Big Time Rush. These rocker boys are known just as much for their awesome hair as they are for their swoon-worthy lyrics and it shows when you walk down the street and check out boys and men of all ages sporting some very adventurous 'dos.

One of the most seen is the pompadour, but more and more we're seeing shaved (or very short) sides with longer length on top to create height and a look that makes ladies want to run their fingers through those locks. Below are some of our faves right now:

Pump Up Your Ponytail!

Pump Up Your Ponytail!
Ponytails can only be so interesting, right? No! A pony can be simple, helping you keep your hair out of your face while at the gym, but it can also be sophisticated and perfect for completing a formal look. Get the new look right now with the pompadour pony. It adds height and volume (which pulls in another hair trend for 2014: big hair) and looks fab on everyone. How can you get it at home without giving up and feeling like a failure?

1. Gather a triangle section of your hair, starting from your hairline to your crown, and clip it out of the way.

2. Pull the rest of your hair into a mid pony (either smooth or tousled, depending on the look you're going for).

3. Unclip the top section of your hair and use a volumizing or texturizing product on it, like Big Sexy Hair.

4. Backcomb this section of hair a bit, until you achieve the amount of oomph you want and then pin in place over your ponytail.

5. If you're looking for bigger hair, use volumizing/texturzing product on your ponytail as well and curl, then finger-comb to loosen.

We are seeing this look, in different versions, on the runways, on the red carpet and even on brides. It's a way to make your boring pony extraordinary.

What's the Perfect Fringe Style?

What's the Perfect Fringe Style?
We're seeing it everywhere this year. The Alexa haircut (inspired by Alexa Chung) with bold bangs has become one of the most coveted looks right now. It's a great twist on a Bob (or "lob") that is just as trendy and can work for just about all face shapes. If you've wanted to mix up your look, and try fringe again, this is the perfect cut to start with. It can easily be morphed into other looks and is very versatile, so it doesn't look the same every day.

Thick bangs can be pushed aside or worn straight across your forehead. Layers can be longer in order to be able to still twist up in an updo. The layers can be shorter, giving you more texture.

Ombre or dipped ends are a fantastic addition to the Alexa, giving your cut a bit more depth and interest.

Any way you wear it, this cut frames your face and draws the eye in, making it an easy pairing for a bold eye or lip.

Are you going to try the Alexa this season?
