Bat Your Baby Blues

...or whatever wonderful color eyes you were born with. Minkys have made it to Melange and we are working hard to get all of our clients in for them as fast as we can. So, what are Minkys? They are eyelash extensions that lengthen and plump up your natural lashes, so you can get the look of false lashes without the work or the addition of mascara. So far, our clients are loving their extensions and we can't wait to make others happy, too!

Wear them everywhere
Minkys are just like your regular lashes. Go swimming, to the gym, get a facial and your Minkys will stay put. They are long-lasting and going about your life will not affect that.

Match your color
Or don't. Get brown to match your normal lash color or go bold with sleek black lashes that are bold, just like when you layer on the mascara...except with Minkys, you won't have to!

Wink with ease
Minkys are soft, flexible and totally lightweight, unlike some fake lashes. They are so much like your natural lashes, no one will ever know the difference. In fact, you might forget they aren't real yourself.

So, who's looking forward to getting longer, lusher lashes?

2014 Color Trends for Hair

201 Color Trends for Hair
2014 is in full swing now and a new year calls for new color. Sometimes when you want to start off with a clean slate, it's easier to do when you everything isn't totally the same. If a new look will get those changes jumpstarted for you, here are some ideas for a brand-spanking-new color that are on-trend and super flattering. How can you say no? Call and make your next appointment now!

Rose Gold
You might not want to totally move away from your lovely blonde tresses, and going to another color can sometimes be too much of a change. You want red, but it doesn't really suit you? Rose Gold is the answer. It's not quite red and not quite pink, but more subtle than both and very pretty.

Brown Sugar
Brunettes going blonde are all over the place, but it doesn't always work for everyone. Go blonde, while still maintaining your brown, with a gorgeous brown sugar hue a la Kim Kardashian and Beyonce.
Copper Penny
By now you must have seen the new Wendy's spokeswoman. She has fiery red hair, but not insanely red, but a more natural looking color that you expect to see on Irish lasses. Copper Penny is that shade and it is a strong way to make that change you really want.
Peek-a-boo
Want one color, but not on your entire head? No problem. Peek-a-boo works by having one shade on the underside of your hair and then another color (possibly much more natural) on the rest of your tresses. Do two natural shades, two complimenting shades or two totally clashing colors.

What's your favorite new hair color for the season?

How to Prevent Split Ends

We've all dealt with them. Split ends are the worst. They make you hair look terrible and in the past, to get rid of them, you had to chop a lot of your hair off. The best way to get rid of split ends it so never get them in the first place, but just how do you stop them from happening? We have some tips for you:

Avoid unnecessary chemicals
This sounds pretty logical, but sometimes we don't think of the most obvious things. Chlorine can damage hair, as well as getting a perm and home coloring. At Melange, we prefer to use the most natural products we can, making your hair even healthier. Of course, we can't always do that, like when you bleach your hair to go lighter, so remember that and try not to do too many hair processes that can make your hair dry and brittle.

Use hair-friendly accessories
Ditch the rubber bands and other accessories that cause breakage or pulling. There are so many new products on the market that work for the hairstyles you are going for, but are easier on your locks than some of the old ones.

Be careful when brushing/combing
Don't be so rough on your hair. It isn't made of steel. Brushing too hard can cause damage. Teasing or back-combing can also damage it if you do it too often. Brushing or combing while wet can be damaging, since wet hair is stretchy and tangles can make you tug harder. Buy a wide-toothed comb and make sure to use a conditioner or detangler if your hair is prone to knots. This will help your combing be more gentle.

Get protection from the sun
Just like with your skin, the sun's UV rays can do bad things to your hair. If you're going to be out in the sun for a good chunk of time, make sure to spritz your tresses with some SPF for hair. You don't want to stop hanging out outside and skip getting your much-needed Vitamin D and exercise, just because the rays can dry out and strip your hair of its nutrients and moisture, causing split ends.

If you find you've already got a bad case of split ends, Melange is now offering the treatment add-on service that everyone is talking about! $25 and only a few short steps can help you achieve smooth and sealed split end-free hair. No more cutting all of your length off to stop creating more damage. This treatment is sugar based for a natural "no touch up" result that will have you putting down your hot tools and out the door quicker than ever.
