Green With Envy

Unless you've been under a rock, you have heard about the Pantone announcement that emerald is going to be 2013's hottest color trend. If you missed that, chances are you've seen those bright greens creeping into the stores in every form. If you just don't have room in your budget to buy the latest "big thing" - or even if you do - a simple way to incorporate this year's It color is to add some it your makeup collection. Some of you may be thinking "green is not a good color choice" because you aren't sure how to do it. Jewel tones may always be a beauty risk, but that doesn't mean they are a bad one.

Emerald beauty

There are some wonderful emerald and other shades of green eyeshadows. They can make a fun statement, especially when paired with a neutral outfit. Use the same technique you use to do a smoky eye, but use shades of nudes and greens instead. Not quite feeling brave enough to add such a big pop of color? Show people you are in with the trends with a swipe of  green eyeliner or an emerald manicure.

Are you already wearing the color of the year? How are you doing it?

Chocolate Sampling

Feeling like you need a bit of a pick-me-up? This season you might want to do what a lot of us girls do when we need some comforting or an energy boost and reach for the chocolate. You can't get this variety at Sees or Moonstruck though. You need to head to your salon. Shades of chocolate are all the rage right now and can go from a light milk chocolate to dark with cherries. There are so many rich colors of chocolate that there is surely something to suit you. Try it with caramel highlights for a classic look or ruby red pieces for a more dramatic and trendy style.

Your stylist can definitely find the right shade for your skin tone and possibly a new cut to go with you color for a brand new you in 2013. A severe bob says you're edgy and people will certainly notice when you walk into a room. If a short cut is not for you, try bangs again with a mod fringe that is reminicent of the 70s, like we've seen so many celebrities – including Jessica Biel – wearing. It gives you a more romantic and laid back look and really frames your face.

No matter how you wear it, your new chocolately mane will turn heads, especially when you turn yours and the light catches those decadently vibrant hues. Is chocolate your go-to haircolor?

Set Sail with Beach Waves

Even though it’s winter and cold outside, that doesn’t mean that you can’t still take summer with you. One of the trends that seem to come and go frequently and have carried over from 2012 – which we love! – is nautical-inspired clothing and accessories. Great stripes of every shade are hitting racks, as well as anchors, bright white bottom pieces and even sea creatures. So chic!
winter nautical

While you may have to get your nautical on in the form of warm pieces like sweaters and white denim and top it off with a scarf and gloves, you can complete your winter sailing look with a head full of beach waves. Get some lighter highlights (caramels and blondes will accomplish this summer look) and learn how to achieve bigger textured waves and curls. You can use a curling iron or a set of hot rollers – which are actually easier and fool-proof you have issues seeing and working with the hair on the back of your head – to get the look you want and top. Make sure you get a product to help your curls and waves stay in place, like Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. It adds body and hold without making your hair crunchy and untouchable. Do you think beach waves should be a year-round trend?

Raving Redheads

Reds are definitely hot right now. You can go light, dark or crazy-bold with red and find a new you in this trending color. Red is the way to make a statement, but you don’t have to completely overhaul your hair to do it. Add some chunky red pieces that peek out and say you like to be noticed, but you aren’t a fad-jumper. This can be done by having your natural hair colored in a hue of your choosing or you can have your stylist add some extension pieces that are temporary, for when you change your mind.

Natural redheads will be thrilled that their color is finally being noticed, but may want to take this time to give their own tresses some depth or definition with bolder shades mixed in or even an all-over color enhancement that can transform their entire look with a deeper, darker head of hair in colors like copper, cherry or burgundy. Satisfied with the color you have, but still want a change? Add some darker strands to give your locks a boost, so it stands out more.
2013 reds

Blondes may think red is a little too daring for them, but it can be a chance to break out of your comfort zone and try some dipped ends for an ombre look, a few highlights in a red that is complimentary to your golden shade or to try out a strawberry blonde color that flatters your skin tone.

All of these can be accomplished with our Goldwell European Colour that is hand-mixed as well as the Essensity line, which uses pure, organic ingredients that are found in nature – not made in a lab! – to give you the most gorgeous color possible.
