Tresses to Dye For

Ombre. The look is everywhere. It's no doubt one of the biggest trends right now in hair. From the subtle dark brown to light brown reverse ombre to the wilder primary colored ends you've seen on many others. It gives hair depth and a more interesting look when it is mixed with textured tresses. This trend isn't going away anytime soon and it can be worn sucessfully on all ages and hair types.

If you want to jump on the ombre train, but not sure how to do it or how to get a classy look - perhaps you are a business woman and can't show up with half purple hair - then try a simple reverse ombre where your ends are just a few shades lighter than the top. Nothing too drastic, but enough to give you a feel for this hairstyle that is being sported by everyone. Maybe you will like it so much that you'll go lighter or even a different color next time.

Changes Coming to Melange

It's Friday and we want to take a few minutes to share some of the cool stuff that's going to be going down at Melange in the coming months. We're going to be remodeling the first floor because we'll be adding two more beauty stations to accommodate new stylists. Megan has been finishing her schooling and helping in the salon the last few months. She'll be starting in April. Her friend, and soon-to-be graduate will be starting in May. We are so happy to welcome these lovely ladies who are eager to learn new techniques and and work hard to beautify clients. 

Our tranquil spa room is slowly coming together and we have some photos of our progress. Once it's done, we'll be pampering clients with facials, peels and teeth whitening. Though it isn't large, the room will be posh and relaxing. It will feature the best products by Dermalogica and G.M. Collin.

You can view our spa room and the rest of the salon during our Spring Open House. You'll get to meet our beauticians, get a chair massage and have a glass of bubbly. We'll be handing out swag bags and offering makeup demonstrations. If you have been curious about Motives Cosmetics, this will be the time to try it out and ask questions from Kim. Keep an eye out for a date when it gets closer to spring. Go for Baroque

Baroque prints have been cropping up all over the runway. These rich fabrics are going to be big, but the statement they also make is big, so your styling choices should be somewhat minimal. Because they are so busy, you don't want to do too much. In fact, less is more when it comes to baroque.

Focus on one baroque piece and let it be your wow piece. It will speak for itself, so you don't want to have too much going on with big hair and crazy makeup. Do something simple with your hair and makeup to create a look of royalty. A simple bun, sock bun or sleek pony are perfect hairstyles. If you have short hair - like an angled bob - wear it straight or super straight and severe. 

You don't have to do much with your makeup. Play up a smoky eye and do a neutral lip or try a simple cat eye and slick on a bright red lip color. Classic and easy is the way to go and you'll end up with a fabulously posh look.
